Paper Review Committee Award for Best Refereed Paper Presentation
Prize: 2 x Complimentary registrations for the 6th Asia-Pacific (APacCHRIE) Conference and THE-ICE International Panel of Experts Forum 2008 in Singapore
Only refereed papers submitted to the 6th Asia-Pacific (APacCHRIE) Conference and THE-ICE International Panel of Experts Forum 2008 Paper Review Committee in full, by a date specified by the Conference Paper Review Committee will be eligible.
Only papers nominated by referee to be considered for the Best Paper Award will be considered to be eligible by the sub-committee.
Papers considered eligible for the award will be judged by a sub-committee of the Paper Review Committee, consisting of at least two members of APacCHRIE. Outside referees may be invited, as appropriate to assist in making recommendations.
The author of the successful paper will be sent written notification of their success and will be invited to be presented with the prize and certificate at the Conference dinner.
Papers will be reviewed and judged on the following selection criteria. The Award is open to al full refereed papers submitted and accepted for the Conference.
• Full paper – the award must only be given to a full research paper
• Nomination – the paper must be nominated by a referee
• Topic – the topic must be of relevance and importance to the wider field of tourism and hospitality research
• Content – the research should be innovative and original.
• The paper must present a set of findings, implications and conclusions with significant potential and value.
• The paper should be unique and useful
• Choice and implementation of methodology – must be clearly explained by the author/s
• Writing style – the paper should be accurate, clear, concise and readable

The committee will use the following criteria in the selection of this award:
• Clear introduction
• Presentation of methods
• Organisation of topics
• Relationship to the Conference theme
• Explanation of definitions
• Audience participation
• Summary / Conclusion
• Validity of conclusion
• Level of preparation
• X Factor
Paper Review Committee Award for best Symposium Paper
Prize: 2 x Complimentary registrations for the 6th Asia-Pacific (APacCHRIE) Conference and THE-ICE International Panel of Experts Forum 2008 in Singapore
The Committee will use the following criteria in the selection of this award:
• What is the relevance and significance to our fields?
• Is the proposal useful and practical?
• Does it represent forward thinking–was it visionary?
• Is the presentation appropriate to the category and time frame selected?
• Is it focused on the educator and/or the corporate executive?
• Is the instructional design creative?
• Is there demonstrated knowledge of the subject matter?
• Is the material presented logically?
• Does the proposal incorporate the conference theme?
• Is there an indication of strong and creative presentation skills?
Posters and winners are notified prior to commencement of the annual Conference, and are invited to be presented with the prize and a certificate at the annual Conference Dinner.
